Part of this class on Web. 2.0 Based Learning and Performance was blogging 3 times a week. At first, I thought no problem, shouldn't be too hard. But as the summer worn on with my job, class assignments, nationwide social unrest and increased COVID-19 cases here in Florida, the effort to continue writing quality blogs was draining.
I had never really researched what it takes to be a good blogger, instead just trying to write about topics related to the class, or readings. After some research, I found a good article with several valid points. The first tip is to niche down. The fact that by the end of 2020 they estimate 31 million bloggers in the U.S. means there is considerable competition, so if you become a knowledgeable expert in a narrow field, then you have a better chance of succeeding than writing about topics in a broad context.
To succeed at their second tip of writing what people are searching for, they suggest using Ahref's Keywords Explorer which displays pools of ideas and related metrics.
There were other key tips on writing including writing great headlines, make posts easy to read and utilizing on-page search engine optimization with keywords, etc.
